Summer Sales Bite #6: Form connections with new customers through a series of automated “Welcome!” emails

June 23, 2024 Posted by Sophia Bennett

First impressions do matter, and an automated “welcome!” email series can ensure you’ve set the right tone with new customers. These emails are a chance to introduce yourself to a customer with the goals of forming a lasting relationship and encouraging their first purchase.

Unsure what to send?

Here is an example of a simple welcome series!

Email 1️⃣ : Say a quick hello and encourage them to shop. In this email, you can thank them for subscribing to your emails and provide them with info on how they can make their first purchase.

Email 2️⃣: Introduce your local food business in more depth. Send them to your blog, social media, website, or wherever else they can personally connect with your brand.

Email 3️⃣: Offer a coupon. Additionally, you can reiterate how you are looking forward to being connected and ways they can stay in touch.

Note: Target by audience. Wholesale buyers may engage and shop with your business in a very different way than household customers. Your welcome emails will have a higher impact if the content is tailored to each audience.

When to send your welcome email series
When a customer subscribes to your email list, your welcome series should kick off. From there, send emails at a cadence of about one email every two or three days.
