About Rosebird Farms
Rosebird Farms, led by Andrea McAdow, is dedicated to enhancing food accessibility in rural Arizona communities. Situated in the Cerbat Mountains, Rosebird is a Certified Naturally Grown farm and food hub coordinating with over 12 producers.
Alongside traditional farmbox subscriptions and a local farm stand, Rosebird Farms leverages LFM’s online ordering system to provide convenient delivery options to their customers – many of which utilize SNAP benefits. In early 2024, Rosebird Farms proudly introduced Online SNAP through LFM to ensure equitable access to fresh, locally sourced produce for all.
The combination of Online SNAP with our delivery program makes local food way more accessible for people who use SNAP benefits. They can stock up on staple products like milk & meat, have it delivered, and earn SNAP Match benefits while doing so.”

Watch the WebinarRosebird Farms’ Average Order Value Jumps from $39 to $90 with Online SNAP
Just six months after integrating Online SNAP, Rosebird Farms now regularly serves over two dozen customers using SNAP benefits for online orders. The farm has experienced a significant increase in order volume, with the average order value for customers using SNAP soaring from around $39 pre-online SNAP integration to an impressive $90 per order.
Thanks to LFM’s functionality, Rosebird Farms offers an online SNAP Match program, allowing customers to save their SNAP benefits for larger purchases and earn substantial SNAP Match credits, which can be redeemed for free produce. So far, Rosebird Farms has issued nearly $10,000 in SNAP Match credits, significantly advancing their mission to increase local food accessibility.
I was initially worried that people wouldn’t use their SNAP benefits to shop with us because of the higher prices compared to grocery stores. However, once customers saw they could earn SNAP Match credits to purchase produce, they were eager to order.”
– Andrea McAdow, Owner of Rosebird Farms
Meat, milk, in-season fruit, and one-time variety boxes are among the most popular with their customers using SNAP benefits.
When we set up a meat variety box, some customers order two at a time, then use their SNAP Match credit to stock up on vegetables for their families.”

A significant portion of Rosebird Farms’ customers reside at a considerable distance from the nearest grocery store, requiring frequent commutes for those using SNAP benefits. Through LFM’s Online SNAP and SNAP Match feature, customers can now easily access local produce by placing orders online, making payments with their SNAP benefits, and arranging for home delivery, all while earning extra credits with Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB).
Since our region is so rural, a lot of our customers are 30 minutes from the closest grocery store. If we can get food out to them, that is incredibly helpful for a lot of people.”
– Andrea McAdow, Owner of Rosebird Farms
By integrating Online SNAP, Rosebird not only addresses the gap in access to fresh produce but also empowers individuals in underserved communities to conveniently utilize their SNAP benefits.

To facilitate SNAP Match programs such as Double Up Food Bucks, merchants must report sales monthly. With LFM’s reporting and analytics tools, Rosebird is able to easily and efficiently track and submit the required data.
We must report monthly for Double Up Food Bucks, and LFM’s reporting features allow me to pull the required data very easily.”

Aside from reporting, LFM’s SNAP Match functionality has been seamless for Rosebird Farms’ customers – the credit is immediately visible to the customer after they make a purchase and they can easily redeem it during checkout.
Using SNAP Match through LFM is so easy for the customer. Once they order, the credit pops up on the screen and when they want to redeem it, they can easily select it during checkout.”

Andrea closely collaborated with the teams at LFM, Activate Food Arizona, and Forage throughout every step of the Food and Nutrition Service’s (FNS) application process required to offer Online SNAP. This partnership resulted in a successful and seamless integration of Online SNAP on their LFM storefront.
The teams at LFM and Forage really made the whole FNS approval process very streamlined by ensuring we gave FNS all of the right information the first time.”
– Andrea McAdow, Owner of Rosebird Farms
To be eligible for Online SNAP, retailers must meet specific inventory requirements and other criteria. Rosebird Farms, having already been authorized to accept in-store SNAP, manages their inventory using LFM’s Advanced Inventory module. By using LFM to easily adapt their farmbox business model, they were able to fulfill all of the Online SNAP requirements and emerge as an excellent first candidate for Online SNAP through LFM.
LFM, along with Online SNAP payment partner Forage, played a pivotal role in expediting Rosebird Farms’ FNS approval process.
