Located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Lackawaxen Food Hub is a regional food hub and multi-farm CSA utilizing LFM’s Subscription Module. Through their efforts, Lackawaxen Food Hub connects over 25 regional farms and food producers with consumers, restaurants, and food businesses throughout Wayne, Pike & Lackawanna Counties and Sullivan County, New York. All of this made easier by the software and support from Local Food Marketplace!
Recently, we had a chance to speak with Christine Ahern, the Executive Director of Lackawaxen Food Hub, about how the Subscription Module and LFM software has made an impact on their business.
Q: Has working with LFM and the Subscription Module made an impact on your business?
CA: I absolutely, absolutely think it has improved our business. I’m thankful for the ease of customer management features. All of the little things that used to be time-consuming and head-ache inducing are now so easy to do with the module. I especially like the reporting: it has been great. There are so many little things that I almost take for granted now!
Q: What do you like most about working with LFM?
CA: The customer service is really good. The response rate is really good: Nick is all over it. I love that!
Q: How did your customers respond to the Subscription Module?
CA: The ease of access for our customers all the time is great. The Subscription Module has elevated our sales, and it just makes us look more professional. I can’t speak enough on the amount of time and energy that has been freed up by the simplicity of the software.
We have a CSA Bulk Store that we offer, and I think with the confidence that we have with the Module now, it lets us focus more on increasing sales for our other online stores. A year ago, nobody bought from our CSA Bulk Store. Now we do close to $1,000 per week in the bulk store just because we can focus on that!
Q: How did your producers respond to working with the software?
CA: Once a farmer realized they could get on their account and see the orders as they come in live, they could be proactive about it. That was really eye-opening for them. They could watch the orders come in and not have to wait for anyone.
Q: What would you say to a food hub or farm/food business interested in LFM?
CA: I would tell anyone to really use the staff as support. They are there to make the software work for you.
Local Food Marketplace is just really very valuable. Everything is there!
